It was another get-together night with friends when, out of nowhere,
one person asked, “What is God to you?” It may not have been a better
time and place to think how to answer this question as we all tried to
sober up and ponder on it. One shared, “God is someone up there that we
all must respect and take seriously.” Another shared that God is as
close a best friend could be, knowing who and what we are from the day
we were born to all that we are about to do in life—and still loves us
and forgives us for everything. As some have gotten into a zealous
tone, should we be alarmed about our faith that there are different
notions of God, revealing that we Christians are not as unified as we
should be?
In Jesus’ time, he would commune to God through priestly prayer — as
his Father. His prayer would be for the present people to be the new
holy people according to the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit. Jesus
prayed for the Church, to whom he entrusted his own mission which is to
keep and proclaim the true knowledge of God and His Commandment. Jesus
also prayed for us to know God through scripture, through persevering
in prayer and joining community celebrations for this is where the Holy
Spirit will help us and bless us with the gifts of knowledge and wisdom.
The present times are riddled with uncertainty and discord, not only in
politics but in religion as well. Let us all hold on in devoted prayer
to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit and weather all odds as the
holy children of God.

Finally,
we pray
for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who
need our prayers the most.
Have a
good day!
