ACTS 14:19-28
JOHN 14:27-31

When any loved one indicates that he or she is going to be gone for a long time, those left behind are going to feel a loss. If they don’t understand why or where their loved one is going, they will probably have even more anxiety. Jesus left his disciples with words of love and encouragement. He gave them the inspiration to continue his work after he was gone.

As disciples of Jesus, we, too, are to share his gift of love and peace with others. We are not only to be peacemakers, but we are also expected to extend God’s peace to all whom we meet on the road of life. Jesus has given us his peace so that we will not be afraid to step out in faith. Today’s readings show a circle of faith. Jesus promises to send the Spirit to be with his followers forever. Paul acts on that promise and the presence of the Spirit becomes even more evident in the world. When we truly believe that the Holy Spirit is with us, we receive a peace in our hearts and minds that helps us to act on that faith.

As we act, we make God’s presence manifest in our own lives. The challenge of the devil, the ruler of this world will always be part of the picture. But if we have faith that Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit are one, we can act with confidence in the powerful promise of Jesus to be always with us.

Finally, we pray for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most.

Have a good day!
