The Gospel speaks of keeping and teaching the commandments. The Holy
Week reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus because of love. He
observed and fulfilled the commandments, and was obedient unto death,
so that we may share life with him for all eternity. Although we do our
best to obey these commandments, there are times when the laws impart a
negative impact on us – we look at them as a duty so challenging and
difficult to fulfill. It is during these times of difficulty and
discouragement because of our failures, that we can recall the two
greatest commandments Jesus gave us: “You must Love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind , and
You must love your neighbor as yourself. “
Jesus abounds with love. Everything starts and ends with God’s love for
us. Loving our neighbor is a concrete expression of keeping the
commandments.
Lent is a good time for us to review our relationship with God and our
neighbor. Is it a relationship based on love, focused on God? Do we
obey the commandments for the rewards that await those who keep them,
or for fear of suffering the consequences if we do not obey. Jesus
taught and fulfilled the commandments not out of fear or submission,
but only because of love.
Let us pray for the grace, the inner strength and intimate knowledge of
Christ’s love for us to live the Gospel, the way he taught us, and the
way he loved us.

Finally, we pray
for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who
need our prayers the most.
Have a good day!
