DANIEL 3:25, 34-43

MATTHEW 18:21-35

On May 13, 1981, Pope John Paul II was passing through the crowds at St. Peter’s Square, when suddenly gunshots rang out. The 264th pontiff was shot by a Turkish gunman named Mehmet Ali Agca. Only after months of complications and recovery could the Holy Father continue his ordinary routine. Two years later, Pope John Paul II visited Ali Agca in prison and spoke with him for 20 minutes. After their conversation the Holy Father said, “I spoke to him as a brother whom I have pardoned and who has my complete trust.” John Paul II knew how to forgive from the heart.

If there is someone in your life who has sinned against you, you are called to forgive him from your heart and show them that they have your forgiveness. It is not easy but with God’s grace you can do it. Only then will you experience God’s peace in your own heart. If we humbly ask forgiveness of Christ the King, he will show great compassion. His forgiveness is not the calculated forgiveness that Peter speaks of, seven times, but rather the compassion found in the heart of God, seventy times seven times, that is times without limit.

Finally, we pray for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most.

Have a good day!
